TENNIS
If you'll be picking up a racquet for the first time, or consider yourself a beginner or intermediate player, you're invited to attend from 3:00 to 4:30 PM on the following Saturdays (Sunday each weekend will be used as a RAIN DATE from 3:00 to 4:30).
March 31st
August 11th
September 15th
October 20th
Two activities will be part of each Saturday's tennis program. The cost is $10 per person for anyone under the age of 18. Tennis instruction and fun will be combined to provide participants of any age/skill level an opportunity to experience the sport in an informal atmosphere. The schedule is:
1. INSTRUCTIONAL CLINIC teaching two basic strokes, the serve and service return, from 3:00 to 3:30.
2. TENNIS OLYMPICS with games providing a fun way for participants to practice their new skills. On-the-court mentors will guide novice and/or young children from 3:30 to 4:00; beginner and intermediate players can play out points from 3:30 to 4:30, learning more about tennis etiquette and rules of the court.
The GREEN in the title refers to the Oak Ridge Tennis Club's support not only for grass roots tennis, but to promote recycling. Each participant will receive a water bottle donated by the Tennis Club to help reduce the use of disposable plastic containers. Plus the program's organizers pledge to use tennis courts, balls, and instructors made from recycled materials.VOLLEYBALLCustomized equipment will be used during instruction to accommodate children's size and hand/eye coordination; activities will encourage participants to have fun while learning new skills.
